The Math Sampler; my second ever <3

Math is great! Math is the best. Ask anybody off of the street, and I guarantee they'll tell you the same!

Math really is super cool, though. And through math, we can come to understand and discover so much about the world around us-- and, turning that around, we can take what we know about the physical world and use it as a springboard to discover so much more about math.

The squares, from left-to-right, in the first row:

• A Klein bottle, which does not have a separate 'outside' and 'inside'
• Pages of math notes and proofs
• Pi, the ratio of any circle's circumference to its diameter
• A magic square, where each column, row, and diagonal all sum to the same amount

Second row:

• Graphs of sine and cosine
• A nautilus shell, often used as an example of the golden ratio
• The Mandelbrot set, a famous fractal
• A normal distribution

Third row:

• Naturally-occuring tiling hexagons in a honeycomb
• Chalkboard diagrams of Thales's theorem
• An illustration of the Pythagorean theorem
• YBC 7289, a Babylonian clay tablet including a calculation of the square root of 2

Fourth row:

• A hypercube
• A sundial
• a Maya calendar
• An icosahedron
