Borealopelta-- a beautiful and recent discovery. It's a dinosaur known from a single, miraculous find: a fossilized body, found perfectly preserved in a mine in Alberta. The fossil looks less like an archaeological find, and more like a sculpture, with Borealopelta posed as it would have been in life, not flattened or distorted, and preserved in such great detail that you can even see the texture of its skin and scales. From the remains of its skin and scales, scientists have even been able to determine what color it was in life: red on the top, with a lighter belly underneath.

This pattern was originally published in Xstitch Magazine's 2020 wall calendar, and is responsible for my no. 1 favorite Etsy review of all time:

Patty R., you're cool as hell. Glad you liked the pattern!
