Do you live in Canada, the United States, or Mexico? If so-- want to fill out a survey on the animals and plants in your ecoregion?
I'm making a cross-stitch series on the ecoregions of North America, celebrating all the different biomes across the continent, and to do it right, I need assistance!
I'm taking a survey is to learn which plants and animals people most strongly associate with the places they've lived-- not on a state-by-state basis, but on an ecoregion-by-ecoregion basis.
Tell Me Your Hometown Creatures
The ecoregions surveyed here are the ones designated by the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC), an organization established by Canada, Mexico, and the United States, which span the continental portions of those three countries.
As of Winter 2025, this survey has received sufficient entries for the ecoregions in the following areas, and does not need any more (though you can still fill it out if you want!):
- The continental United States, excepting the southernmost tip of Texas
The survey especially needs more submissions from these areas:
- Northern Canada / Alaska
- Mexico
- Hawaii*
- Puerto Rico*
...so if you live (or lived) there, I'd be particularly glad if you filled out the survey! And--
*Since the CEC ecoregions specifically cover the continental portion of North America, that means Hawaii, Puerto Rico, et cetera are not included in the official listing of ecoregions. However, I would still like to include them in the project, if possible! If you're filling out the form for one of those regions, simply select 'Other' and fill in the common name of the place you're submitting for.
